Never underestimate the power of paint. You can create fancy finishes
and different effects with special decorative painting techniques and
make low cost materials look luxurious. Historically, for drama or a
sense of fun, three-dimensional landscapes or Trompe L'Oeil finishes
entertain and ‘fool the eye’.
Create unique looks with paint for traditional rooms, contemporary or
anywhere in-between. It’s not hard with the variety of straightforward
techniques popular today. Many paint finishes are defined by the tools
that are used to render them; sponging is done with a sea sponge,
ragging uses a crumpled cloth and dragging involves running a comb,
brush or steel wool through the paint. Whatever technique you choose
depending on the colours selected the end result could be subtle to
bold.
Children need rooms that are fun, functional and clearly belong to
them alone. For a child a bedroom is more than just a place to sleep,
it is the only room in the house that is theirs alone – without
adults, a haven where the child’s world takes centre stage, a place
for everything from dress-up to homework. Children will be proud to
pick their own colours and help create their own rooms. Just remember
that as children become teenagers you may want to slowly start adding
your own taste and colour choices to their rooms to gently ease them
out - you don’t want them getting too comfortable in there!
With today’s hectic pace, each family member needs their own special
area for retreat, from a rec room where older children can hide-away
with their friends to a den or library where parents can spirit away
in peace from their children! Paint provides the quickest, easiest and
most economical way to personalize a space.
